The River Road African American Museum invites the community to celebrate 32 years of preserving and sharing African American history in Louisiana’s River Parishes.
Join us for Preservation, Place & People, a special two-day anniversary celebration taking place across the RRAAM Cultural Campus of Living History in downtown Donaldsonville.
This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as the museum reopens its doors at 406 Charles Street after two years of being closed due to storm damage and renovations. We look forward to welcoming the community back to this historic space as part of the anniversary weekend.
Since opening in March 1994, the River Road African American Museum has been dedicated to preserving the stories, culture, and lived experiences of African Americans who shaped Louisiana’s plantation country and the River Parishes.
This milestone weekend will bring together community members, supporters, and visitors to reflect on the people, places, and stories that continue to define the legacy of the museum.
